Siam Country Club Plantation Course Overview
The Plantation Course at Siam Country Club, Pattaya, is the sister course to the very established old course. And what a compliment it is to that great institution. Modern, unique, stylish and a complete challenge, this 27-hole course is totally different to anything else in the region.
Designed by Lee Schmidt, who also renovated the Old Course, The Plantation is an international championship course with natural rolling hills with some breathtaking elevated tee-offs with ocean views in the distance. Because of its elevated nature, you can enjoy soothing and gentle ocean breezes.
First opened in 2008, within one year it hosted the prestigious Honda LPGA Thailand tournament. The course was named The Plantation due to the surrounding and historic Sugar Cane, Tapioca, and Pineapple plantations, which are ironically the names of the three sets of nine holes.
The expansive and elegant clubhouse sits atop a hill overlooking the course like a general commandeering his soldiers. The locker rooms, pro-shop and restaurant are almost as glittering as the course itself.
If you want to play the best courses in Pattaya, The Plantation Course at Siam Country Club is one of a handful of Championship courses in the region, along with the Old Course and Laem Chabang International Country Club.
♦♦Signature hole: 1st Hole on Sugar Cane Course. Par-4, 400 Yards
This 400-yard, Par-4 is a real challenging hole with a rapid elevation from tee to green that puts 20 yards on the length. Although there are wide fairways, there are also a vast cacophony of bunkers on the left, and lots of bunkers on 3 sides protecting the green. From the tee, you will encounter a dogleg left at a distance of roughly 200 yards, so club selection is paramount.
