Silky Oak Country Club Overview
Silky Oak Country Club Overview
Situated in a stunning countryside location a 40-minute drive outside Pattaya City, the Silky Oak Country Club shares the same location with two of Pattaya’s other popular courses – St. Andrews 2000 and Rayong Green Valley. The course is one of the newest in the region and was first constructed in 2010 and was named after a native Australian tree that is similar to a pine, and which you will find throughout the golf course.
This 18-hole course is a Par-72 and is set over an area of 7,135 yards from the back tees and offers some unique features. The course has 18-holes but only 9 fairways, making this a very wide and open course that is very forgiving from the tee.
The greens have severe undulations but are also very large, so those with a good short game will excel at Silky Oak. The backdrop to the course offers great views of the surrounding hills and with lots of lofty tee-off spots, offers great panoramic views of the countryside.
At this moment in time, the course is still very open and it will take a few years to mature properly into its surroundings like any golf course, but the conditions are still excellent, making this one of the newest and most exciting courses in the region.
There is a clubhouse onsite with changing facilities, which are good but not exceptional, but there are plans to expand them in the near future. Please remember that when you come to play at Silky Oak, it is recommended that you arrive early because it is a 10-minute drive from the clubhouse to the first hole by cart.
Signature Hole: 4th hole, Par-4, 560 Yards
The 4th hole at Silky Oak is known as their signature hole and is one of the most difficult on the course. 560 yards in length and 220 yards to carry the sand for the tee, those who can’t drive the bunker will not be able to reach the green in two shots, so this one is for the long hitters.
